功課(第一課):最新情況

我已開始收到你們的分享及其寶貴意見,多謝!
Here are some homework to share with you all. I love to receive yours.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the past 2 years, a brother of HCEFC and me have been regularly having coffee (app. once biweekly).  Other than some friendly chat, 70% of our discussion is about encouraging each other.....to care/concern other brothers & sisters.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I recalled when I started going to church at the early days, there was this brother who looked after this senior brother in the congregation, this senior who had cancer disease.  Although senior has his family but this brother was dedicated in taking him to the hospital and doctor's appointments.  He walked closely with senior brother even though when he was out of job.  I didn't see him worry about his own situation but rather walking with this senior till the end of his days....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Recently, I went to visit some high schools with my kids. My son was very admired by a high school's high quality facilities and technology.  However, he was so upset by their bathroom....very very dirty, all waste around, 6 toilets but only one had been flushed.
"How come they didn't flush it?  So dirty...."
"Our school didn't have such facilities, but the toilet is always clean!"
聖誕節前一週,為了讓回家渡假的子女及小孫兒有一個驚喜,我請求我的朋友(下稱師傅)教我做 cheese cake, ginger biscuits 及 pan cakes. 她知我對造餅是完全新手,很多 "baking" 的基本工都不懂,但被我的誠意打動,於12月20日親自上門授課,為了配合我的程度,她選擇了最簡單又易上手的 recipes 教我。
她用了兩個下午教我,每個程序均先示範,跟著叫我跟著她的做法,重復的練習,我做每一個歩驟均雞手鴨腳的,全身沾滿麫粉,手慢腳慢,師傅沒有責怪,只是耐心的指導,做錯了,她就想辦法"保鑊"。最後她要我由頭到尾自行煎一次 "pancakes" 給她看,這次 "return demonstration" 對我來說真不簡單,因在過程中發現了我許多看似細微但十分重要的過失,若不改正,pancakes 便不鬆軟好吃了。
事後我対師傅説,我嫌 pancake recipes 油多一奌,想自行減些,師傅狠狠的說,當你仍未掌握基本工時,切勿改 recipes, 要依足去做。
聖誕新年期間我練習了3次煎 pancakes, 第一次手忙腳亂,錯過的地方,再錯,效果不佳。
第二次再練習,私自加多一些奶,質感変了,不好吃。
第三次練習,我下定決心,慢工出細貨,依足師傅所教及 recipes 的份量,一步一步的去做,結果好一些,但與師傅相比仍然有很大的距離!....
New Year's resolution ....
what sort of New Year’s resolution should a Christian make? Here are some suggestions:
(1) pray to the Lord for wisdom (James 1:5) in regards to what resolutions, if any, He would have you make;
(2) pray for wisdom as to how to fulfill the goals God gives you;
(3) rely on God’s strength to help you;
(4) find an accountability partner who will help you and encourage you;
(5) don’t become discouraged with occasional failures; instead, allow them to motivate you further;
(6) don’t become proud or vain, but give God the glory.
Psalm 37:5-6 says, “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.”
Whatever means you use to get people into the church is precisely what you must use to keep them. If you get them with a “religious circus,” then you must keep the circus going – keep up the entertainment. If you get them with biblical preaching and teaching, then that will keep them and you will not need the entertainment.  - Ernest Reisinger
人生該是進步式+ing (轉載)
人生,不一定要做「最好」,但一定要懂得讓自己「更好」; 不一定要登峰造極,但一定要懂得讓自己保持在進步的狀態中。
有一位老太太, 在她六十八歲的生日派對上如此說: 「我40歲學彈鋼琴 (現在她已可以在教會中擔任司琴), 50歲學英文 (她已可以用英語與外國人對話), 60歲學開車。 現在已經六十八歲了! 如果上帝讓我活到七十歲, 我一定要開畫展。」
人生, 是否應該是 「進步 + ing」 (現在進行式), 而不應是 「進步 + ed」(過去式) 或 「be going to + 進步」 (未來式); 應該是把握現在, 懂得持久地保持在上進狀態, 絕不因時間或任何的關係而停止努力, 或是一再地告訴自己「反正明天再開始也不遲」。試想, 如果一位六十八歲的老太都可以如此上進, 那您及我呢? 您是一個懂得讓自己不斷進步的人嗎?
提供您兩個的建議:
1. 每天去做一件自己雖太不喜歡, 但卻有意義的事:
放鬆下來與家人有30分鐘的閒聊
每天做40分鐘的運動
每天起碼讀一章聖經
每天讀一篇好文章
每天對自己明示或暗示,饒恕一個傷害自己的人或事件 ....。
這些事將會很有意義! 不用多久, 您的身體、知識、修養、能力, ...... 必會有驚人的進步,因為進入習慣的知識才是真正存在的動力。
2. 常把每日目標設定在比自己現有能力再多出0.5%的地方:
做一件事時, 除非事關重大, 否則在此誠摯地建議您, 不妨把目標給設定在比自己現有能力再多出0.5%的地方。久而久之, 您的能力就會被多「練」出很多個0.5%, 習慣這樣的程度後......, 長期累積, 您將在不知不覺間, 變成一個巨人! 因為持之以恆, 一年你會增長300%, 二年你會增長1000%, 三年你會增長3000%,四年你會增長10,000%, 也就是100倍於現在… 一個懂的不斷更新、上進的人, 不但令人欽佩, 也會在困難的年代裡, 不易面臨被不景氣淘汰。
您的人生, 會是 「進步 + ing」嗎? 昨天的您、今天的您、明天的您, 三者能連成一條向上攀升的曲線嗎? 值得您我共勉 !
斧頭雖小, 但多劈幾次, 就能將堅硬的樹木伐倒。
