Servants
in a Church are…
1.1.) All Christians in a church are servants of God. Jesus said,
"....Go and make disciples of all nations, ......teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you...." (Matthew 28: 18 - 20).
1.2) The leaders in a church are the servants of the congregations,
e.g. pastors, church board members, ministry leaders, fellowship lea ders,
small group leaders. Jesus said, " ....whoever wants to be come great
among you must be your servant, ...." (Matthew 20: 26 - 28) They help
prepare God's people for the works of service for building up the church.
(Ephesians 4: 11 - 16)
2] 我們的教會為何存在? Why
our Church existed & needs continuously to exist?
The calling of forming our church is to serve the new immigrants from
Hong Kong. It provides the environment to Christians for fellowship and to
preach Gospel to non believers. Several years later, the focus was shifted to
build up our 2nd generation to become Christ followers and church leaders,
e.g. English Ministry & 3rd Sunday service. Then the focus was shifted to
serve a larger group of people in our church community and to build a larger
church, e.g. own church building, Yee Hong Saturday worship, adoption of
purpose driven concept.
What are we going to do next? It is a good question. I wish I could
answer this question. I was really inspired by Rev. Leung's sermon in the
recent Missions Conference. He proclaimed that the purpose of Christ's church
is to send out Christians to preach His Gospel to non believers, to make
disciples. Then the next question is "who are the people we serve?"
Let God Lead Us to think about this together. I ask God to give the wisdom and
insight to and guide the church leadership who in turn leads the whole
congregation to the right direction. My heart is leading me to the younger
generation. God, please answer me.
